CARL HUTCHINSON
THE STORY
Carl is one of the North East’s best loved comics and tours the UK to sell-out venues every year. For his homecoming gig at the Tyne Theatre & Opera House, he asked us to produce a multi-camera film of his stand-up set for distribution.
THE SOLUTION
The initial brief covered both a promotional video (above) to announce his tour for the year which was made up of archive footage we had previously shot with him for a documentary and also bespoke inserts to set up the tour going on sale.
Carl had a very specific look and feel in mind for what he wanted from his stand-up special. The six-camera event at the Tyne Theatre & Opera House captured every movement, joke and laugh from the packed house. We ran all the cameras as well as wired sound for recording with 25 microphones installed around the auditorium to ensure that it looked and sounded the very best it could. Post production required the offline cut of the various camera feeds to bring it life, colour grade for matching and our friends at The East Wing mastered the sound so that every element of the show looked and sounded as good as it possibly could.
