TOGETHER FOR CHILDREN
THE STORY
Together For Children are an incredible service that works to improve the lives of children and their families, keep children safe from harm, and ensure they have the opportunity to fulfill their potential. Together For Children works across everything from adoption and social care through to fostering and SEND provision. Part of their mandate is to create videos that tell the real stories of families whose lives have been changed in amazing ways through their own unique fostering journeys.
THE BRIEF
Together For Children approach us to create a series of short documentaries that tell the stories of people who have fostered children all over the North East. Some have been doing it for over twenty-years while others are brand new. Some specialise in emergency placements and children who present with additional needs and others have placements that last 15-years or more. The incredible thing is that no fostering story is the same and all require a different approach but each one needs to feel like it is part of a series.
THE SOLUTION
We approached the creation of these films with as much of an open mind as possible. We understood that in every case, the details that could be shared about the situation and journey of each fostering setup would change. Another challenge that was presented was that almost all of the children involved had to have their identities protected…which made filming anything other than interview content more challenging. We solved the problem of telling their stories with additional footage by filming pictures in the houses, digitally replacing the images in them in post-production and then replacing them with stock footage that helped illustrate the story of the contributors without compromising on detail or production value.
FAMILY HUBS & MORE
Our work with Together For Children doesn’t just end with documentaries about fostering journeys, we have also made a series of videos to help them promote their Family Hubs across the North East of England.
We’ve also made radio adverts for their flagship fostering campaigns, created bespoke social media content, and produced campaign elements to support them in raising awareness of the need to foster unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.
